I made a table . . . .

Three days on a woodworking course and I came home with an oak side-table.

The construction is with mortise and tenon joints (both blind and through mortises) having contrasting wedges and tapered legs.  Finished with a hard glaze and a light wax polish.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, putting to work some of the skills from my school woodwork days, refining those skills and learning some new ones . . . . and inspiring me to make more and better furniture rather than the "pallet possibilities" that have been my more recent projects!

Work in progress with the components on the bench, the hand-tools used and then the legs, rails and stretchers drying after application of the glaze prior to the final glue-up and a final thin coat of wax.

The excellent course was run by Finbarr Lucas, a fine furniture maker located in Sheffield.
